Antonio Quintana was a Chilean master of black and white photography. He portrayed the Chilean people. He worked as a professor of chemistry and physics for photojournalists in the journalism school in the University of Chile. He was also a political activist and member of the communist party.
His photographic work covered many photographic genres from portrait to architectural photography. He worked portraying the Chilean people. His main work was "El Rostro de Chile". In this work, he traveled along of Chile photographing all kind of peoples. He introduces the social genre in Chilean photography
I like because we can see in his work the mix of poetic and technics at the same level. His style and composition remember me the masters like Walker Evans and Ansel Adams. When I see his work, I see how He worked the light/dark, his sensitivity, and composition. He trims the reality in the decisive moment when the light intersect the shapes. Finally, I like the social connotation that involved his work, he made a visual radiography of the Chilean people.

Childhood Monsters
Hello again! -After a long and deserved vacations-.
I really didn't have monsters in my childhood, but I was always afraid of the dark and being alone at home. I'm not really sure about my childhood monsters because I don't remember very well. I used to feel safe at home.
Maybe, I didn't afraid, because I saw too many movies about monsters -thanks to my dear uncle Rene-. At the first, these scared to me, but eventually I got used. Now, that I remember, there was a movie that I scared a little. It was called "La Rata Humana" in Chile, Ratman in the rest of the world.
I was afraid to get me a bad grade at the school...
At the present time, I have afraid of natural disasters, tragic, death and pain -very typical causes of fears-. Now, horror movies like "La Rata Humana" cause me laugh because are so unreal and fake -Movies like scary movie help me a lot -. Conclusion: all movie monster are funny.

The history of a Picture
The history of a Picture
This picture compares the shell, universally know isotype, with the "hell" word. Was taken for Matt Jalbert in 2008. Shows accidentally the shell's logo with the 's' off. This image is about how the people perceive and related this company with ecological disasters caused by the indiscriminate extraction of oil at sea for the shell.
I like for the following concept/reason
Minimum gesture
"Because is a little intervention in the isotype and logotype that alter the graphical that we know. This minimum gesture reconfigures the meaning and showing the dark side of this company."
Economy of means
He met with the image and just touch the camera shutter. He was just in the right time and place, he was lucky.
Ecological Reason
And finally, I like because I'm interested in the ecology related subjects. However, you should strive to find the relationship between the two images (normal shell's logo and shell with 's' off).

My 'new' favorite recipe.
My 'new' favorite recipe.
I was looking for a healthy recipe for my stressy life and I found that raw food is the best way to gain energy and to lose stress (and weight). Raw food means that: you only eat uncooked and unprocessed foods. Include 'ONLY': fruits, vegetables, nuts and sprouted seeds.
I hate cooking, but I like new flavors and recipes. I hate to go to the supermarket because I hate walking in place similar to a hospital. I really prefer la vega, because is very interesting and exciting. I like the odors, colors, and fresh flavors. The most interesting place in la vega is the spice's place (located outside in Los Artesanos street).
I was vegetarian quite some time ago (like 4 years) but now I'm conscience omnivorous(!). Well, my favorite recipe for raw food is: Raw Sushi.
Ingredients:
1 Cauliflower
1 sheet of Nori
1 avocado
1 spoon of Tahini sauce
Procedure
Cut the avocado in juliennes
Mix the cauliflower in the food processor with a spoon of tahini sauce up to make looks like rice's texture (use a box grater if you don't have a food processor)
Put the mixture on the nori with the avocados
Finally roll and cut...

My favorite device
Well, another entry who nobody to wants to read(!) -joke-...well my favorite piece of technology is my walkman (not the oldie walkman)free-wire, hand-off and waterproof. This mp3 player is absolutely great, it's so comfortable and practical for me because I running in san Cristobal's hill.
This device is the evolution of old-walkman. I had many walkmans in my life and I like them. I had to use cassette walkmans but were not comfortable like the new (weight was the problem with that). This new walkman is fabulous, is the best walkman ever. The only problem is the battery life(crap battery up to 4hours).
Expectations for the semester
My expectations for a new semester are many: first I hope finish my program as well as possible (all subjects). Another expectation is: to generate interesting projects in my art's subjects. I hope to have a little peace in my life because I'm stressed.
I am very stressed due to job and college, I have no time for anything -a big problems-. I spend my time in really boring stuff. I feel I need more days in a week.
I hope to meet new people outside the field of art, outside the career, because I feel I know them all -artists and artists wanna be-.
As well, I hope not to have to hate what I do, but, now, is so complicated due to time.

My Biography
I was born in Santiago on September 12, 1983. I am an only child. I grew up with my cousins I spend with them all time At the age of 6 I was accepted in San Pablo's elementary school then when I was fifteen I applied to INBA and I was accepted. The change was very complicated because the difficulty was great. I finally ended my secondary and preparatory with good grades therefore it was little easy to get into college.
